'Machine Tool' Drink Collection:

Nick Goellner:  "Tapping Fluid on the Rocks"

  • Woodford Reserve Bourbon
  • Sweet Vermouth
  • Angostura Bitters
  • Luxardo Cherries

I'll use one large globe-shaped rock of ice as a tribute to our Rockford, IL HQ. (Fun fact: Rockford, IL has the most machinists per-capita of any city in the US!)
I will also use this great smoke infuser

Jason Zenger "Dirty on the Factory Floor"

  • Jeppson's Malort
  • Mezcal
  • Lots of limes
  • Simple syrup
  • Ginger beer
  • Crystalized ginger

The taste should remind of a coolant gone bad and that you need to call ZENGERS for a better recommendation.  Jeppson's Malort, a bitter herb wormwood drink, is a part of Chicago history. Anyone that tries it straight will get a round of applause on MakingChips for their incredible act of bravery.

Jim Carr: M98 "Noventa & Ocho"

  • Tequila Blanco
  • Cointreau
  • Orange Juice
  • Pineapple Juice
  • Lime Juice

Inspired by Jim's passion for the Mexican culture, this subset is a new take on a classic Margarita.

Peter Eelman: "Machine Coolant Deluxe"

  • 3 oz Half and Half
  • 1.5 oz Bailey's Irish Cream (or equivalent)
  • 0.5 oz Green Creme de Menthe
  • Splash of club soda

Fill an Old Fashioned glass halfway with ice.  Combine ingredients minus club soda in an ice-filled shaker.  Shake until cold and strain into the glass.  Add splash of soda.  It looks EXACTLY like machine coolant!
If you like a grinding machine, you can garnish with nutmeg for swarf.
If you are a lathe or machining center person, you can garnish with shaved white chocolate for chips!
