Synchronized Stir Welding – “SSW” is a next-generation welding technology that does not require a dedicated stir welding system and/or complicated spindle mechanism as it reuses existing milling machine/machining center. It enables a wide range of joining process conditions so that it achieves high-strength welding with high-speed joining process, producing low temperature welding with no defects.

SSW is characterized by materials that are “actively” stirred in synchronization with the direction and speed in which they are to be stirred, resulting in a high joining speed and a small shoulder diameter, allowing joining to be completed with low heat input.

SSW technology is easily installed on existing process machines, machining centers, milling machines, multi-function machines and robotic process machines. This technology will prove useful in a wide range of applications that require advanced welding, including automotive, aerospace and electronics industries where productivity and versatility are challenging, but offer great opportunities for success.
