Hansen, Preben

Preben Hansen, President of Platinum Tooling, is known throughout the industry for his expertise and experience in the tooling industry. He offers over 40 years’ experience in the machine tool accessory market and over 50 years working in the manufacturing industry. Preben is considered a leading authority on the topics in the North American machine tool market.

 

Manufacturing is in Preben’s blood.  Back in Denmark, Preben’s father and grandfather both worked in manufacturing. Preben worked in a machine shop while attending college at the University of Illinois at Chicago. After college, he learned programming while running a job shop with CNC lathes and machining centers.

 

He began working in machine tool accessories in 1987 by selling tools and rotary tables. In 2010, he started a partnership with heimatec GmbH to be the exclusive importer of heimatec products in North America. From there he grew his business and in 2018, bought out heimatec and formed his new company, Platinum Tooling Technologies, Inc.  Platinum Tooling became the exclusive importer for North America of heimatec products, along with several other machine tool accessory lines, including Henninger, Tecnicrafts, and Hommel + Keller, and REV. 

 

Platinum Tooling Technologies, Inc., is located in Prospect Heights, Illinois (just outside of Chicago). They recently expanded their facility to provide increased inventory to better serve the marketplace.
