Mike is one of 3 founding Principals of Tier ONE, LLC and has over 30 years of broad experience in business and operations management including 25 years implementing leading-edge Lean Manufacturing techniques. As business owner and plant manager, Mike has strived to be a “change agent” enabling companies to improve earnings by utilizing innovative business and manufacturing principles.
During his career, Mike has been responsible for production, shipping, receiving, warehousing, purchasing, manufacturing engineering, facilities, and Safety, Health, & Environment. He has led the implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives and Lean Manufacturing in place of traditional MRP systems resulting in reduced lead times to customers and reduced inventories. He has also been responsible for Human Resources functions including recruiting, skills development of workforce, performance management, compensation systems and company culture. To ensure a pipeline of qualified candidates for Tier ONE’s state-certified Machining Apprenticeship program, he has developed relationships with directors of Advanced Manufacturing programs at local technical high schools and community colleges.
Prior to starting up Tier ONE in 2003, Mike was Plant Manager for Kendro Laboratory Products and held numerous positions at E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. Mike earned a BSME from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1982 and an MBA from Drexel University in 1989.
